Deadline Day: All the last minute signings from Europe’s top leagues (part 3)

Another transfer deadline day is in the books in Europe has come to an end earlier this week. There are a lot of big surprises and twist in the last day of the transfer windows, with clubs spending millions to strengthen their squad despite the losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Here are the last minute signings from Europe’s top leagues:

Justin Kluivert (on loan from AS Roma to RB Leipzig)

Roma and RB Leipzig on a €1.5 million loan with an option to buy for the 21-year-old Justin Kluivert. Kluivert joined Roma in the summer of 2018 from Ajax for €18.7 million. The talented Dutch winger, and son of former Barcelona man Patrick Kluivert, managed just four goals and one assist for Roma last term. He scored eight goals and chipped in nine assists in all competitions last season.

Karim Rekik (from Hertha Berlin to Sevilla)

Centre-back Karim Rekik has left Hertha BSC to join Sevilla FC for a €4 million deal until 2025. Hertha signed Rekik from Olympique Marseille in 2017 for 2.5 million euros.  Rekik, whose contract with Hertha was due to expire next year, played a total of 75 games for the German capital club, scoring four goals and making four assists.

Mattia De Sciglio (on loan from Juventus to Lyon)

Italian champions Juventus have confirmed the loan departure of versatile Italian full-back Mattia De Sciglio to Ligue 1 side Lyon. The defender will go on loan after an agreement reached with Lyon for this season 20-21. De Sciglio was among the players to leave Juventus in this transfer market. During his three years at the club the Italian has won 5 major trophies. 

Jota (on loan from Benfica to Real Valladolid)

Real Valladolid have signed Jota from Benfica on a one-year loan. Jota played games with Benfica in the League, Cup, Super Cup, Champions League and Europa League. He played two U19 Euro Cups, and was the best player in 2018, in which he scored five goals, two of them in the semifinal and two in the final. The U21 international Portuguese will join up with his new club next week.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (from Paris Saint-Germain to Bayern Munich)

Bayern Munich have signed former Stoke midfielder Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Paris Saint-Germain on a one-year deal. The 31-year-old played for Hamburg, Nuremburg, Mainz and Schalke before his move to the Potters in 2017, where he played 32 matches, scoring five goals in one season before his transfer to PSG.

Douglas Costa (on loan from Juventus to Bayern Munich)

Former Bayern winger Douglas Costa has also rejoined the club on a season-long loan from Juventus. It is a dry loan, so with no option to buy, but Bayern will cover the Douglas Costa salary and likely give a small figure to Juve for the loan period. The 30-year-old wore the Bayern jersey from 2015-17, when he made the move to Juventus for €6m initial loan and then signed permanently in 2018 for €40m.

Gerard Deulofeu (on loan from Watford to Udinese)

Premier League club Watford have confirmed that Gerard Deulofeu has joined Udinese on loan for the season. Deulofeu scored  two goals in the FA Cup semi-finals to send them into the final of the competition for the first time since 1984 and by scoring the club’s first top flight hat-trick since Mark Falco’s in 1986 in a 5-1 win over Cardiff.
